Hang out with Christina to see her Favorite Lunch Food in San Juan Del Sur!
What beach vacation would be complete without a good meal or two? There is no debate that San Juan Del Sur has a lot of food options to choose from and I want to tell you about My Favorite Food in San Juan Del Sur.
Ding Repair Cafe
Ding Repair has been the go-to spot for vegetarians for over 7 years. The menu includes salads, smoothies, fresh pressed juice, and more. You can’t eat a meal here and leave not feeling just a little

healthier. The restaurant has moved several times over the years and has come with a little more space and a bigger better location with each move. The latest move in 2022 was only next door but it allowed the Cafe to double the space adding a co-working area with wifi, a bowl for skateboarding and roller skating as well as additional garden seating. With the expanded space has come an expanded menu, even adding the first non-vegetarian options. There are a plethora of pop-up events, skate nights and dinner served Thursday-Sunday nights now. While Ding Repair Cafe has evolved over the years it has kept my favorite salad as a staple. The Fritanga is a blend of brown rice gallo pinto, pico de Gallo, guacamole, maduros and plantains. All this is served over a bed of kale and topped with pickled vegetables and a Culantro vinaigrette. It is a filling meal and one of my lunchtime favorites.
Olha

Olha has been on the San Juan del Sur dining scene for almost three years, so while it is new compared to some of the other options it should not be overlooked. It is another one of my go-to lunch spots. I always order the Thai Buddha Bowl which is cooked cabbage, served over rice and topped with avocado, bell peppers, carrots, grilled chicken (if you want), and the most delicious Thai peanut sauce. This dish is ginormous and I have never been able to finish it in one sitting. I consider leftovers a plus. The menu goes far beyond just my favorite option and includes a smattering of breakfast and lunch items….everything from a BLT on Bagle to a Pancake to a chicken quesadilla can be found here. There are tables inside and a much larger-than-expected outdoor area in the back with secret garden vibes and plenty of seating.
Wrap ‘n’ Roll

The Primavera Roll at Wrap ‘n’ Roll is something I eat for lunch at least once a week without fail. Not only is the flavor consistent but the staff and presentation are too. This dish is lei mein noodles, broccoli, veggies, and chicken wrapped in a flour tortilla, and fried. It is cut and served like a sushi roll. It comes with Asian slaw and some white rice.
The dipping sauce is what brings the dish together. It is a peanut dipping sauce. Any sauce I have left after finishing the roll I dump over the rice and slaw. This restaurant has been in San Juan del Sur for over 12 years and the owner has been here even longer. The menu consists of noodle bowls, Asian plates, Salads, Wraps, and more. There is often a special of the day based on what seafood is available and when it is Tuna season this place has one of my favorite Poke Bowls. It’s a quaint space but a good spot to overlook the street and enjoy some good people-watching.
King Curry Club Restaurant

I am ecstatic that this restaurant has found a new home right on the beachfront. This restaurant has had several locations over the years and even closed for a bit but it is back and better than ever. With the new location comes new hours of operation which means it is open earlier in the day. I can now have my favorite Butter Chicken in all of San Juan del Sur for lunch anytime I want and I do at least once a week. Aside from the classic curry dishes including Vindaloo and Dhal, he has expanded the menu to include Mediterranean fare with fresh seafood pasta. This is a do-not-miss spot when dining out in San Juan Del Sur.
La Lancha

This is not only a favorite lunch spot of mine but also a favorite lunch spot for many Nicaraguan and foreign tourists alike. My favorite dish to get is the Arroz con Pollo. For those that don’t know, Arroz con Pollo is a much-loved Nicaraguan dish that combines seasoned rice, onion, bell peppers, and tender chicken all cooked in one big pot. It is served with plantains. All the menu items are traditional Nicaraguan food with an emphasis on the fresh seafood. If you are looking for a taste of local flavor this is the spot. The restaurant is large and located right on the beach. It’s a great place to take in the sunset or even a beach stroll while you are waiting for lunch. Some nights they kick it up a notch with live entertainment.
If you are feeling overwhelmed and don’t know what to eat after that hard morning of surfing or hiking look no further than My Favorite Food in San Juan Del Sur and they just might become your favorite things to eat for lunch too.
